"My Kids Don't Puke"

At least that's what I thought.

I made it three and half years with a pukeless exsistence and I was beginnning to think myself immune. Oh sure, i've dealt with my fair share of spitup and the like but never the real deal- stinky, pastey, chunky, orange and red and GROSE kind.

That is until about three days ago.
We went to a birthday party and came home with a stomach bug. I probably should've been more alarmed when the birthday boy started throwing up in the bushes. He turned around and announced "he felt better!". Cool, thought this niave (relatively)new-mommy. The kid feels better, we'll stay for just a little while longer. Cut to 2 tacos and a quesadilla later the next thing i know big L is running all over the yard and sliding around the bounce house w/said birthday boy. We ended up being on of the last to leave. and i think we paid the price for it. we lost the coveted my kids don't puke award.

A screech from the kid's room sent me flying in to check on them. Big L is complaining his tummy hurts but it doesn't seem alarming so this niave mom tucks him back in bed. Big L obliges and we all fall back asleep. It's not long before the free flow of vomit starts. Sitting straight up in bed and using his comforter as a toilet is Big L looking sad and pale. DAMN BDAY PARTY!!! that's my first instinct- to curse said bday boy's parents. but i'm not sure it was about all the vomit but rather i think i'm still mad that they opted not to serve us cake cuz bday boy had fallen asleep!
So, yeah, we've been broken in. We jumped thru all the hoops.
  • 2am puke session, check.
  • mandatory bath for half asleep toddler, check.
  • vomit on every cotton surface in a 5 sq ft area, check.
  • dry heaves from parents...CHECK.

  1. YAY! You're blogging! Love the look, love the title, loved this post. I need to get a little more technologically savvy. I'm envious of this sidebar column with pics.

This post gave me an idea.... maybe you should do a whole series on "my kids don't.....". Everytime you hit one of those not so fun parenting milestones, you'd at least get a good post out of it. I could do one right now on "my kids don't.... throw public tantrums." We hit that milestone last week. Yay.
